The Mini Hardtop Oxford Edition brings some of the model’s most desirable features to a low-cost trim. Now, Mini is offering the value-oriented package on the Countryman, and it drops the crossover’s entry price by a considerable amount.
Prior to the introduction of the Oxford Edition, an entry-level Countryman started at $29,250. The new trim, however, brings the crossover’s price of admission down to $26,750. The Oxford Edition is available in both Cooper and Cooper All4 variants. The latter includes all-wheel drive and raises the cost of entry to $28,750.
Countryman Oxford Editions get all the standard equipment of the Classic trim, including a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display, leatherette upholstery, rear parking sensors, and a panoramic sunroof. But the trim also adds extra goodies such as upgraded 18-inch wheels, black headliner, heated front seats, automatic climate control, and a choice of six paint colors, including metallic options. Mini claims that the limited-edition Countryman Oxford Edition, which reaches dealers in July, includes a standard features list with what typically amounts to $5,500 worth of optional equipment.
Meanwhile, the British brand continues to offer the Hardtop with the Oxford Edition kit. For the 2021 model year, the two-door Hardtop starts at $20,600. Four-door models cost an additional $1,000. These models feature upgraded wheels, heated seats, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and other upgrades over the standard versions.
Previously, Oxford Edition models were available exclusively to certain groups including college students and members of the United States military. Now, anyone can purchase these models. Admittedly, value is typically not associated with the Mini brand. The Oxford Editions, however, look to change that and ought to lure in fans of the brand who were previously inhibited by the relatively high prices of other Mini Countryman and Hardtop models.
