Cadillac Escalade's Coolest Feature Will Be Worth The Wait

The report claims the diesel-powered Escalade will enter production "roughly 12 weeks after Start of Regular Production (SORP)." With the Escalade set to enter production at GM's Arlington, Texas facility in June, the diesel model should start to be assembled around August to September. The diesel-powered Escalade will use a 3.0-liter Duramax inline-six producing 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque going out through a 10-speed automatic.

For reference, the Escalade's other engine option, a 6.2-liter gasoline V8, produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. While less powerful than the V8, the Duramax diesel should offer considerable gains in fuel economy.
