Bentley created the ultra-luxury SUV segment when it debuted the Bentayga five years ago, paving the way for rivals like Aston Martin, Lamborghini, and Rolls-Royce. While we admire the stately SUV for its strong performance on and off the road, we’re somewhat disappointed with its lean list of standard features, especially given its six-figure price tag. Now, Bentley is updating the Bentayga with a more modern cabin. These are the eight biggest improvements Bentley has made to the interior.
Larger Touchscreen
One thing that revealed the Bentayga’s old age is its 8-inch touchscreen. Considering rivals like Mercedes and Cadillac are offering much larger units, it was time for Bentley to upgrade. Now, the 2021 Bentley Bentayga gets a respectably sized 10.9-inch touchscreen with new Android Auto capability. Wireless Apple CarPlay is now standard, and so are USB-C data ports and a wireless phone charger.
Fully Digital Instrument Cluster
Just like the new Continental GT and Flying Spur, the Bentayga receives a digital instrument cluster. It features special animations and is reconfigurable to the driver’s needs.
Advanced Navigation
An improved navigation system features three-dimensional building displays as well as satellite maps. The head-up display now projects traffic information, street names, and distances onto the windshield.
Plush Seats
Bentley redesigned its seats with more sculpting around the shoulder area. A new seat frame on the five-passenger model allowed Bentley to double the travel of the rear-seat recline angle. On this variant, you can get ventilation in the rear seats, a feature that was previously reserved for the four-seater. If you want to get really fancy, you can now select micro-piping on the seats, or a plush new Mulliner Driving Specification quilting design.
New Materials
Continuing the updates, Bentley revised the cabin with bold new materials on the doors and dashboard. A new dark tint diamond brushed aluminum trim is available, along with two new wood veneer choices.
More Accommodating Rear Seat
We’ll have to test it out for ourselves, but Bentley says the Bentayga offers more room for rear passengers to stretch out. Back here, there’s also a larger touchscreen to adjust settings such as media, mood lighting, window blinds, and heating and massage for the seats.
Better Audio
We’re not impressed with the current Bentayga’s standard 10-speaker audio system, which sounds like you’re listening to it from the next room. Fortunately, the Bentayga is ditching this setup, making the 12-speaker Signature Audio system standard. A 20-speaker Naim sound system is optional.
Added Connectivity
New Bentaygas have an embedded SIM, so you don’t need your phone to set up a data connection. Bentley says it has improved its remote services through the MyBentley app, including features like “find my car” and “lock my car.” Depending on the market, customers will have access to real-time traffic information and over-the-air map updates as well as green light traffic light prediction, online music, and local hazard info.
