Hachi Roku production numbers in the 360,000s. Or more. Or less depending on who you ask, but so few of them arrived in North America that we westerners revere it like it’s nothing short of automotive perfection. Though it’s not, there’s no denying the handling of the car as well as the revvy nature of the 4A-GE engine make the AE86 an irresistible proposition.
Though many people prefer to keep the Sprinter Trueno as clean as possible, a few owners do the unthinkable by flaring the wheel arches with widebody kits. This isn’t one of them. Instead, pixel artist Spy The Designer has treated the AE86 to probably the most extreme widebody we’ve seen on the AE86. And gold wheels. And the mother of aerodynamic diffusers.
A set of LED light strips give an ominous look to the front fascia, and as you can tell from the negative camber of the wheels, Spy The Designer has also gone down the stanced route. It’s hard to imagine the 4A-GE needs so many air scoops/heat extractors without a turbo or a supercharger in the engine bay, but then again, AE86 purists will be offended anyway.
Turning our attention back to the real world and unmolested cars, the AE86 fetches a pretty penny in this day and age. The last Sprinter Trueno auctioned on Bring a Trailer hammered for $22,000, and if you’re curious, a few photos of the RHD example have been added to the gallery as well.
