Drift Trikes Powered by Chainsaws and Leaf Blowers Race Like Mario Karts

Leaf blowers vs chainsaws in a race: this is something we didn't think we’re going to see this week, but here it is, a race between two drift trikes motorized by means of the tech usually used to power the two landscaping tools.

The idea of doing such a race popped into the head of the guys from Hacksmith, the group that not long ago presented to the world a weaponized miniature Tesla Cybertruck. This time, their focus was to have otherwise plain drift trikes motorized and raced against each other in a single day because why not.

The base three-wheelers are your standard drift trikes of unnamed make. Usually fun to drive in stock configuration, these vehicles often get motorized by Youtubers and thrill seekers, but this time things are a bit different: Hacksmith used for the build hardware taken from Litheli-made leaf blowers and chainsaws – this means machines powered by lithium-ion batteries instead of regular fuel.

The leaf blower-powered trike needed three such tools fitted at the back to give the rider a boost when pedaling. The blowers were mounted on a pivot so that the trike got drifting abilities by directing the leaf blowers in the opposite direction of the front wheel.

The chainsaw-powered machine was a bit more complicated to make, because the power tools (two of them were used) needed to be taken apart and reassembled in a way that they could power the trike.

What resulted in both cases can not exactly be considered elegant engineering or design, but the builds work so their purpose was met and the race took place, indoors and not without a bunch of surprises and some bananas along the way.

You can see how these two crazy racers were built, and the entire racing action, in the video attached below.
