It's been only two weeks since the factory restart and, for some unknown reason, Tesla has now reduced the delivery timeline for Model Y orders to just 4-8 weeks. Given the fact this is a brand new vehicle that's been gathering reservations for over a year, the move does come as a surprise. Aside from satisfying anxious customers, there's likely another reason why Model Y production has suddenly been cranked up.
The theory is that because Tesla used the shutdown time to fully prepare the Model Y production line, everything is now in place. In addition, it's learned from previous launches, mainly the troubled Model 3 launch, of what not to do for a new mass-market vehicle.
