Tom Cruise Is Building a “Village” of VIP Winnebago Trailers to Resume Filming

In April this year, Cruise was in Venice, Italy, along with the rest of the crew, shooting scenes for the upcoming Mission: Impossible 7, which (at the time) was scheduled for a tentative summer 2021 release. As the crisis hit, the crew packed everything up and relocated to the UK, where shooting continued until the end of March, when the country went into lockdown.

Like many other European countries, the UK is opening up, and this means movie and TV productions will soon restart. In order to keep the M:I 7 crew safe, Cruise is building a “village” at an abandoned RAF airbase in Oxfordshire, The Sun reports, citing unnamed but supposedly reliable sources.

This is no regular village, though. According to the insiders, Cruise is investing big in VIP Winnebago trailers, so that everyone will live on-site for the rest of the shoot and be in a virtual bubble that will prevent infection. Naturally, everyone will be tested ahead, so while they remain on site, they should be safe.

“The film has already been heavily delayed and there's no sign of things going totally back to normal any time soon, so this is a way to try to get things up and moving again quickly and safely,” says one spy. “It's also tough to get hotel rooms at the moment as most of them are shut for the foreseeable future, so it was this or delay things for even longer, it will mean some of the world's biggest stars all living together in a posh campsite while working alongside the rest of the team.”

The source adds that this is a pricey option, as compared to living out of hotels, but “Tom always does things bigger and better than anyone,” which pretty much infers that he is personally paying for the project. Cruise does have a producing credit on the film, so he also has a vested interest in delivering the film on time.

Paramount Pictures has moved the release date to November 2021. First assistant director Tommy Gormley said in a recent interview the crew would revisit all shooting locations as soon as possible, to wrap up production by early 2021, so the movie could go into editing in time for the fall release.
